Congratulations to Aja for winning this month’s STEP UP YOUR STYLE: "It's All About Hair" Edition. Aja has always shown great skill with her choice of attire, but on this night she let her hair become a reflection of her talent. The soft swept up curls stayed perfectly in tact as she danced the night away (a very difficult feat). Aja gets her hair done at Alcheme Salon located here in San Francisco. The Alcheme philosophy is the traditional salon is transformed into an artistic lab, as if you’ve stepped into an art gallery. The goal is to transform hair into artistic beauty and Aja is a good rendition of that philosophy.

Aja has tactfully rolled her hair in a clean and flowing manner that looks fresh and natural. The products that she uses don’t look stiff or over used. The black satin ribbon that gently rests against Aja’s sultry black hair takes us back to a time when Scarlett O’Hara was the epitome of style.

The curls surrounding Aja’s face are a modern twist to the updo. Moving away from flat ironed straight hair and avoiding curls that belong on a bride’s maid, the fluid movement of her locks is an excellent example of the direction celebrities and fashionistas are taking their looks.

Aja did not stop at a great hairdo that would have been enough to catch my attention. She completed the look with sultry make-up and an elegant gown that creates a look to be admired.
